Intervention Services

Wildflower Pediatric Psychology provides short-term, solution-focused intervention services to support children, adolescents, and the grown ups who support them.

Whether your child needs behavior intervention support following an assessment or individual psychotherapy, we offer evidence-based strategies to promote long-term success.

Psychotherapy for Older Children & Adolescents

Our individual psychotherapy services are designed for  older children and adolescents who need short-term, goal-focused support, and for whom an adapted ‘talk therapy’ approach is feasible. We specialize in integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients navigate challenges and build emotional resilience.

Therapy may be a good fit if:

  • Your teen is struggling but is reluctant to open up, and you’re unsure what they need.

  • Your child has autism and needs talk therapy, but you’ve been struggling to find a provider who has expertise in both autism and psychotherapy and can readily integrate the two.

  • Your teen needs a trustworthy, approachable therapist who integrates care within your unique family dynamics.

Our Approach Centers On:

  • Upfront and ongoing informed consent practices for both child and caregivers.

  • Strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming therapy.

  • Personalized, evidence-based strategies.

  • Family communication & collaboration.

How It Works:

  1. Onboarding Session (60-90 min, virtual or in-person)

    • Informed consent, including discussion of information sharing practices specific to your unique family dynamics

    • Review goals, concerns, and the general structure for therapy services

    • Tailored session format allowing for both child and parent involvement.

  2. Subsequent Therapy Sessions (45 - 60 mins each)

    • Weekly or biweekly sessions, typically lasting 8-16 weeks.

    • Flexible duration based on the child’s needs.

    • At least monthly caregiver sessions to discuss progress.

  3. Transition & Continuity of Care

    • Planning for post-therapy support.

    • Coordination with schools and/or other external providers (as needed and desired).

Behavior Intervention Support

Dr. Jess Graber of Wildflower Pediatric Psychology performing an evaluation in Columbus OH

Behavior Intervention Support provides hands-on guidance for families following a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA). This service helps bridge the gap between assessment and real-life application, ensuring a personalized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is effective in daily life.

How We Support:

  • Designing & adapting the BIP for home, school, or other settings.

  • Real-time coaching & feedback during implementation.

  • Custom tracking tools to monitor progress.

  • Caregiver training to build confidence in maintaining and adapting behavioral strategies.

Most families complete Behavior Intervention Support within 8 weeks of once  weekly sessions. We customize the timeline based on your child’s progress and family needs.

Do You Need an Updated FBA?

If your child completed an FBA at another provider, Behavior Intervention Support may still be an option. However, a BIP is only as strong as the assessment behind it.

Dr. Graber will review existing FBA reports and conduct observations to determine if further assessment is needed. In some cases, only 1-2 additional sessions may be required to refine the plan.
