Telepsychology & In-Person Sessions

Wildflower Pediatric Psychology offers both telepsychology and in-person sessions, ensuring that each child receives care in the setting that best supports their needs.

In-person session locations are determined collaboratively, with careful consideration of risks, benefits, and practical logistics. While short-term in-person sessions are available in any PSYPACT participating state, more extensive in-person options are available in Texas and Ohio. Full telepsychology services are available to clients in any PSYPACT participating state.

Telepsychology: Virtual Care Anywhere

For families who prefer remote services or live outside central Ohio (in one of the 42 PSYPACT participating states), telepsychology is a flexible, effective option. In most cases, our assessment, intervention, consultation, and behavioral pediatric services can be conducted entirely virtually,

In-Person Sessions

In-person sessions can take place in a variety of settings, depending on the child’s needs and the nature of the services provided. Below are the most common settings, along with key considerations for each.

Office-Based Sessions (Dublin, Ohio)

The office setting is ideal for clients who:

  • Live in Ohio and are within a reasonable driving distance of Dublin, Ohio.

  • Prefer in-person sessions in a clinical office-based setting.

  • Do not engage in frequent or high-intensity disruptive and/or dangerous behaviors (e.g., aggression, self-injury, property destruction, or high rates of screaming).*

Services Best Suited for Office-Based Sessions:

  • In-person ADOS-2 assessments (for autism diagnostics)

  • Caregiver-only appointments

  • Caregiver & child sessions, when adult only discussions about the child are not necessary.

  • Psychotherapy for older children and adolescents who are uncomfortable with teletherapy.

  • Behavioral Pediatrics consultations.

*Important Note: Although Wildflower Pediatric Psychology specializes in addressing complex and high-risk behaviors, the small office setting may not be appropriate for children likely to engage in dangerous behavior during appointments (according to their history). In such cases, sessions are conducted in the natural environment where these behaviors occur (e.g., home, school), ensuring both safety and clinical relevance.

Home-Based Sessions

Home-based sessions are ideal when:

  • The child lives in or near central Ohio or the family can cover travel costs.

  • Referral concerns are directly related to home behaviors.

  • Family dynamics are a key factor in assessment or treatment.

  • The home is the safest setting for the child, and virtual options are not feasible.

  • The child has agoraphobia or other intense resistance to leaving home.

Services Best Suited for Home-Based Sessions:

  • Naturalistic observations as part of a Functional Behavior Assessment.

  • Behavioral consultation & family guidance, with in-person coaching.

  • Individual psychotherapy for children who struggle with leaving home.

School-Based Sessions

School-based sessions are ideal when:

  • The child attends school in or near central Ohio or the family can cover travel costs.

  • Concerns are specific to the school environment (e.g., classroom behaviors, peer interactions).

  • The school team is involved in the assessment and/or intervention process.

Services Best Suited for School-Based Sessions:

  • Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).

  • Behavioral consultations, initiated by the family and agreed upon with the school.

  • Clinical consultations, initiated by the school and agreed upon with the family.

  • Direct psychotherapy, if the school is the most effective setting for intervention and can accommodate a small private space for sessions.
